Pan De Sal






































Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour plus extra flour for kneading
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast (make sure it's not expired)
1 teaspoon sugar
1/3 cup warm water (temperature should be 110 to 115 degrees F)
1/2 cup warm milk
2 eggs (optional)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
breadcrumbs

Procedure

Mix 1/3 cup warm water, sugar, and yeast. Cover with a kitchen towel and keep in a warm place to let the yeast rise for 10 minutIes. In a big bowl mix the flour and salt.  Make a well in the center. Whisk two eggs and add 1/2 cup warm milk and vegetable oil. Add the yeast mixture. Slowly pour the mixture in the center of the well in the flour  to bind all together until they clump together into a ball.  Knead on a floured working surface for about 8 minutes or until smooth. Put on a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, keep in a warm place to rise and double in size for one hourPunch in the middle and cut into two pieces. Knead each piece lightly and form each piece into a log.  Sprinkle logs with breadcrumbs.  Let rise in a warm place for about 25 minutes.Cut about 1 1/4" thick and arrange on a greased cookie sheet.  Cover with the kitchen towel, keep in a warm place, and  let rise for 30 minutes. Bake at a preheated 375 Degrees F oven for about 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
