Bistek (Beefsteak Pilipino)
1 pound round steak, thinly sliced 1/8 to 1/4"-
1 big white onion, sliced crosswise 1/4"
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3/4 cup oil
Mix the fresh lemon juice, soy sauce, oil, and 1 teaspoon freshly grated black pepper to make marinade.
Pound the beef steaks with a food mallet on a sturdy clean surface to make the steaks thinner and tender when cooking. Cut the steaks into serving pieces. Dip each piece of steak on the marinade and keep them in a bowl for about 15 minutes.
Heat a big pan to high and add the remaining 1/4 oil. Fry the white onions in batches but not to overcook them.
Heat a pan (iron pan is best). When very hot, pour the oil and cook steaks for about 2 minutes on each side. Set aside on a serving dish or a big bowl. Cook all the beef steaks.
